Levi von Heisenberg

Levi von Heisenberg K9MD dog

K9MD Levi is the first dog in the country to be raised by K9 Medical Detection New Zealand and specifically trained for the early detection of Bowel cancer in urine.

K9MD Levi has shown conclusively his ability to successfully detect Bowel Cancer in extremely low concentrations with a high level of proficiency. In July 2021 Levi completed a blind randomised control trial as a validation for the proof of concept stage. Held over 5 consecutive days with 400 samples, Levi detected all positive bowel cancer samples at 98.4% (sensitivity) and ignored all negative samples that were not cancerous 100% (specificity).

K9MD Levi's results are world leading.

To create a simple non-invasive urine test for the early detection of Bowel cancer Levi will commence the Diagnostic Test Accuracy stage using patient urine samples early 2024.

Levi von Heisenberg is a large, strong, confident German shepherd who loves to work and lives with Pauline, K9MD's Founder, Weta and Hunter. When he's not detecting cancer samples in K9MD's training centre in Dunedin, Levi enjoys life on the farm where there's plenty of room to stretch his legs.

Levi is K9MD's poster boy, and we're pretty sure he knows it. He also has his own label from the prestigious Valli Wines.
